Your Spirit Man Should Follow the Miracle of Your Body
Have you ever gotten a tiny splinter in your finger? You might think you’ve removed it, but some small piece is still stuck inside. Even after some time, your finger may look okay, but it still hurts or doesn’t work properly. If you leave that splinter in your finger long enough, your body will eventually push it out on its own. It’s amazing how our body is designed to get rid of things that don’t belong there.
Now think about your spirit or inner self. The question is: "What are you made of?" What kinds of things are hidden in your life that you carry around?
The Bible in Hebrews 12:1 says:
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a large crowd of witnesses to the faith, let us get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that trips us up. Let us run the race with endurance that God has set before us.”
The Believer’s Bible Commentary explains this verse well:
“Living the Christian life is like running a race that needs discipline and perseverance. We need to remove anything that slows us down. These “weights” can be things that aren’t necessarily bad by themselves but can hold us back, like material possessions, family ties, loving comfort, or lack of mobility. We also need to get rid of sin, especially the sin of unbelief. We should fully trust God and believe that living by faith will lead us to victory. And we must remember that following Christ is not always easy or quick. We need to keep going through trials and temptations.”
So, there are three main things we should focus on:
Look at what’s in your life that slows you down and work to remove those things.
It’s not enough just to notice them—make a plan to change.
Even small, harmless things that seem okay can divert our attention away from Jesus and onto earthly concerns.
It’s also important to spend time with Jesus and read your Bible—reminding yourself of past victories and future promises. Prayer and time in the Word should be regular habits, not only when you’re in trouble, so your mind stays focused on truth and not on worldly lies.
Remember, life isn’t a quick sprint—it’s a long race.
Quick fixes and instant rewards can distract us from God's plan.
When we try to do everything in our own timing or within our own limits, we miss out on what God can do in His perfect way.
God has given us everything we need to succeed and enjoy this journey. Today, choose to follow God's way, allow His Word to change you, and become the person He created you to be!
