God Hikes Gave Me Some Good Stuff . . . Just Not for You
I’ve had some great hiking trips living in Colorado, but the best ones were when I left my phone at home. Those hikes always feel more freeing because I’m not distracted by technology or people pulling at my time and feel like more of a “God hike” where I give Him my full attention. I honestly believe those trips give me a kind of reset, helping me clear out all the noise and distractions of life.

Charlie Kirk and Those We Are Supposed to Love
This past week has been heavy for our country with the assassination of Charlie Kirk. People have lost jobs for making fun of his death, Turning Point USA has had over 37,000 requests for new chapters in high schools and colleges, and I don’t think life in America will ever look the same again.

Dad’s Garage : Memories of a Hard Worker
I’ve been going through my dad’s garage in Helena to clean it out and figure out what the family might want to keep, sell, or throw away. This past week, I FINALLY cleared off his main bench. That bench has been cluttered and dirty since I was a kid. There was so much piled on top of it that I actually forgot half the bench was metal and the other half was wood!

God, Give Me a WEED-LIKE Faith
How many times have we heard the term “child-like faith” when it comes to our relationship with Jesus? To have a heart and mind that comes to Christ expecting like a child; not just thinking but knowing that God, our Father, is not only able but willing to meet all our needs. AND, not just the desires of a child, but a loving Father who knows what I need and when I need it.

A Lukewarm Life
Growing up in church, I remember hearing messages about the dangers of living a lukewarm life and ending up in hell. Preachers often pointed to Revelation 3:15-16, where Jesus says:
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

Dealing with Loss in Life
The last few years—and even recent days—have been tough for the families of our CTN team members when it comes to losing loved ones. When I lost my dad in June 2024, I gained a new understanding of what it really means to lose someone close, like a parent.

Real Growth in Life
Recently, my sister and I decided to have someone come and take care of my mom’s lawn and property. For a while, my sister was trying to do it herself while also managing her own yard. She made a brave effort to keep the grass cut, watered, and weeds pulled. In fact, she even says that tending the lawn is relaxing for her—haha! But she just couldn't keep up so we made the decision to bring in a professional to handle the lawn regularly. It’s made a big difference, and now the yard is healthier and looks much better.

Ozzy Ozbourne is Dead . . . is He in Heaven?
Last week, Ozzy Osbourne died. I remember hearing about him biting the head off a bat during a concert. He said he thought it was just a fake rubber bat, but who knows for sure. All I know is that it was shocking to say the least.

Don’t Forget Pain in Life
About 20 years ago, I was diagnosed with an eye disease called scleritis. It means the white part of my eye was inflamed. I saw over 27 doctors, took lots of medications, and even went to Barnes Eye Institute in St. Louis over a four-year period. Eventually, I had a partly detached retina.

Reading List to Wrap Up Summer
I know as guys that sometimes it can be hard to commit to reading and not just scrolling our phones or other distractions, but I think each of these books I am recommending have relatively short chapters, great information, and range from personal growth to fine tuning of leadership skills, to just fun reading.

Truth About the Joy of the Lord in Life
The Bible talks a lot about how strong and important joy is. For example, in Nehemiah 8 and 9 that includes the well-known verse, “the joy of the Lord is your strength.” There are also verses in Proverbs 10:28 about the hope of the righteous is joy, and James 1:2-3 tells us to consider it joy when we face troubles in life.

Being Extraordinary in Life Needs . . . EXTRA
Everyone wants to do something extraordinary at some point in their life. Some say it’s the persistent drive of the human spirit, but I believe it’s something deeper. I think it’s not just a human desire; it’s part of how God made us. If we are created in God's image, as I believe every person on earth is, we have a built-in desire to be more than just ordinary.

What Makes the Devil Happy?
Have you ever wondered what makes the devil happy? It’s a strange question, because when I think of the devil, I don’t usually think of happiness or joy.

Your Spirit Man Should Follow the Miracle of Your Body
Have you ever gotten a tiny splinter in your finger? You might think you’ve removed it, but some small piece is still stuck inside. Even after some time, your finger may look okay, but it still hurts or doesn’t work properly. If you leave that splinter in your finger long enough, your body will eventually push it out on its own. It’s amazing how our body is designed to get rid of things that don’t belong there.

Is Fast Food Killing Your Christianity?
Fast food has become an integral part of American life, instilling in us the expectation of getting what we want quickly and exactly how we want it. This mindset can inadvertently impact our spiritual growth.

Understanding this critical window of development is essential for parents and mentors seeking to shape the next generation's faith.

From Empty Pews to Mighty Warriors
